Okay, just last night I finally finished reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, if I were to be honest it was kind of hard for me to start reading this book. I went back and forth, picking it up and setting it back down. I don’t know if this was due to me pushing myself to get out of the reading slump I have found myself in, or if the start of the book wasn’t all that interesting. But the more I read the more emotionally involved I gotten, one minuet I’m pissing mad, the next I’m wishing I had a love like the two main characters and then mo more than a couple of pages in I soon regret that wish. I went into this story without knowing what it was about and the crazy ride it was going to take me on and although both the book and the movie adaptation has been out a little past 2 years now I haven’t gone over any in depth reviews or watched the film. So imagine my surprise when I’ve realized that this novel has actually lived up to the hype that everyone has given it.
“It was kind of romantic. Catastrophically romantic.”
This one sentence that Gillian Flynn has so sneakily placed in her novel sums up Gone Girl to the ‘T’. My take on this story is like Bonnie and Clyde but with a physiological twist…and no bank robbing.
I am not going to give an in depth review, I’m simply just going to leave this post on your dash and urge you to read this story (if you haven’t already). Going into this novel blind and unaware of what may happen is the best choice one could make.
